🧠 Overview
Clomiphene citrate is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) that acts at the hypothalamic level to stimulate
the release of gonadotropins (FSH and LH). In appropriately selected patients, this mechanism may promote follicular
development and ovulation.
It is most commonly prescribed for women with ovulatory dysfunction, including certain cases of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS),
when pregnancy is desired. Treatment is typically cycle-based and requires medical supervision, including ovulation monitoring
and assessment of treatment response.
In some regions, clomiphene may also be used off-label in male patients under specialist supervision. Approved uses and monitoring
requirements differ by country. Always refer to the official product leaflet applicable in your jurisdiction.
